July 23, 2020 by Henry Griner Leave a Comment

Do you want to do something magical? Using WordPress Plugins makes building your website easy. Making magic with WordPress Plugins is like hiring your own website coder, without the expense. Why would you want to build on any other CMS platform? Over 34% of website on the Internet run on WordPress.

Are you looking to build a membership website for your organization? You might want to install Paid Membership Pro or Member Press. No coding needed. Just follow the installation and setup instructions.

It gives you many options including; a single video on a page or post, YouTube channel, playlist gallery, or live stream embed codes. The Pro Version even allows you to embed the Live Stream Video with the YouTube Chat Box.

If you want a great tool for Google Analytics, you will need to install the MonsterInsights Plugin for WordPress. Or you might try the simple Google Site Kit to track your Analytics and Search results.

If you are Planning to Sell Products, get WooCommerce

The top eCommerce tool for WordPress websites is WooCommerce. You can link up WooCommerce to from many Payment Gateways including PayPal, Stripe and Square. Best of all, WooCommerce is free and open source to modify as you wish. Use it to sell physical products, memberships or digital products. WooCommerce is a product of Automatic the development team that builds and maintains WordPress and many WordPress tools.

Adding forms to your WordPress website is easy with tools like WP Forms. You can link it up to WP Mail SMTP which helps to fix the email deliverability issues.

No money to pay for an SEO Guru? No problem. Just install Yoast SEO and you are on your way to fame (and perhaps even fortune). This the best SEO plugin on the market. Freedom of Speech with WordPress

July 13, 2020 by Henry Griner Leave a Comment

WordPress logo

Websites built with the WordPress CMS are Powerful Tools for Free Speech!

In this season it seems that”Big Tech” companies are being accused of blocking or removing content provided by conservative voices. It is no secret that companies like Google, Facebook and Twitter lean more favorably towards liberal ideals. At times information and even facts which are posted on government websites and then are shared on Social Media platforms have the content removed.

Using a self-hosted WordPress website can provide a safe place to publish ideas that might get blocked or removed on other platforms. Publishing your own content on the shared WordPress.com hosting platform can also be a great option.

At WordPress.com, we’re committed to freedom of speech: our core mission is to democratize publishing. Our service allows anyone on the web to express their ideas and opinions, whether we agree with them or not — we don’t censor, moderate, or endorse the content of any site we host.

https://wordpress.com/freedom-of-speech/

With WordPress you have two choices. You can setup a Free account at WordPress.com and start posting your own content including images, Podcast audios and videos. Or, you can purchase your own Domain Name and setup a hosting account and install WordPress yourself with a company like MSM Instant Webs Hosting for less than $60.00/year.

In a couple days I will post a video about how to build a website on WordPress.com and if you want to be notified when that gets posted, simply add your email address and name to the Subscribe for Updates box on the right.

Below is a replay of the video on WordPress Training I did in April.

What can you do if YouTube shuts down your account
or deletes your videos?

There are other video hosting solutions out there besides using YouTube. When you own and manage your own personal or business website built on WordPress it is easy to embed videos from other services. I will give you information and tips on those in the coming days.

Discovering New Digital Tools for the New Economy

April 29, 2020 by Henry Griner Leave a Comment

Interesting to see how many people are trying out new ways to do conferences and training now that it looks like we will be in this “new economy” for a few months longer. Business people need new tech skills today.

I just saw Viveka von Rosen trying out a Zoom + restream.io meeting setup. Others are popping up on my LinkedIn and Facebook channels all day long.

Even as various states and cities begin to open up and allow businesses to get back to work, I believe it will take a long time before conferences and large meetings take place again. What are your thoughts on that?

  • What digital tools are you learning to use now that you have not used before?
  • How often a day are you using video tools for meetings?
  • Are you doing online conferences or attending conferences online that were planned for in-person events?

Please post your response in the comments area below
so we can see what others are doing.

I started using a couple new tools to help with my video production and promotion work in the past month or two. I use ManyCam.com for video. This gives me the tools I need for recording video or living streaming to multiple sites at once. It includes lowers-thirds for titles, picture in picture and many other features.

I also found one of the tools that YouTube producers are using for making those video thumbnails that POP the look of their videos. I use TubeBuddy.com for those. Besides the thumbnails there are lots of stats and other useful features.

(Note: This page includes links to several tools and resources that I use for my business and to help others. I am an Affiliate or Re-seller of services for these businesses and I receive commission income when you click on these links and place an order. Most have Free get started options. I just wanted to be upfront with you. Thanks for using these businesses.)

Free WordPress Website Training

When was the last time you dreamed?

I don’t mean the kind of dreams you normally have at night… I mean the ones you probably have had in the past while sitting at your desk at that job, the one you may not be able to go to now.

Because of the Coronavirus Pandemic and the resulting lock down and closure of many businesses, perhaps the one you work at, life as well as health has taken a sharp downturn. However, this can be the beginning of new opportunities for those willing to look, listen and learn.

There’s no denying that the current situation has knocked us back on our heels.

LinkedIn.com

If you are like most people the thought of starting your own business has occurred to you. Perhaps you thought that a skill you have or a hobby you enjoy might be something that others would like to learn about, even pay you money to learn.

I have some good news for you… For all of you out there who are considering starting a business, I want you to know that you can do it. I did it several years back. If I could start my own business, you can too.

STOP! Don’t believe all the negative stories you read in the national and local media. Not everyone is getting sick and dying from the virus. Get out of that mindset and move forward. Your family needs you. You can overcome the negative and find success.

I was working as the IT Manager for a family owned furniture store and I was feeling less and less fulfilled with what I was doing. There was little opportunity for me to be creative and less chance for any advancement. When I started to look around I found many people who seemed to be making money working from home in the Internet Marketing World, so I decided to see what that was about.

But let me backup a little in my story. I had already built my first websites in the mid 1990’s for my local bank and a Minnesota suburb. I was paid for doing those so I guess I proved that I could make money apart from working a regular JOB.

In May 2003 the WordPress blogging or content management system (CMS) was launched and soon after that I started building my own WordPress websites, learning how this new tool worked. Later, I discovered that many other people wanted to learn to build websites too… and so I started Mission Springs Marketing in 2005.

Today, I see the need is even greater for individuals like me and you to be in charge of our own futures and not rely on an employer or the government.

I want to help you get started with building your own Freedom Vehicle… Your Own Website That You Control. That is why I am offering my Free WordPress Website Training. I will teach you how to get started with little or no money.

Zoom vs Skype, Which Are You Using?

April 6, 2020 by Henry Griner Leave a Comment

This is a heads-up from Techspot.com
It seems like Skype is not going away without a fight with Zoom which has been seeing staggering numbers of new users since the COVID-19 lock downs started around the world.

I just checked my Skype account and found this new Meet Now button on my account. I don’t use Skype that much myself except for family visits so it is something that I have not noticed until I read this article.

I found this new Meet Now button on my Skype account today.

The big picture: Microsoft appears to be seizing a window of opportunity for Skype as rival Zoom struggles to sustain and protect its surging 200 million+ userbase from the recently discovered security and privacy issues. The ongoing troubles have caused New York City to ban Zoom in favor of Microsoft Teams across its 1,800 schools, as the reactive trend for switching to Zoom-alternatives picks up pace globally. Skype, too, is one such alternative, which recently added a new Zoom-like video calling feature that goes one step ahead by letting hosts initiate meetings without signing up on the platform.

Working from Home? Don’t Get Hacked

March 25, 2020 by Henry Griner Leave a Comment

With so many people now working from home, and many who were not tech workers, you need to check your security. There are several things you can do now to be safe in your online environment.

Your company may have already taken safety measures when they said you could work form home. They may have setup VPN or Virtual Private Network access to the company network for you. However, they may not have worked with you regarding your personal computer, tablet or cell phone to be sure they are secure for business.

Working at home can leave you open to hackers, even in normal times, and these aren’t normal times. With one in four people in the US under orders to stay home to slow the spread of the novel coronavirus, many more people are now working in their personal space, sometimes on their personal computers or phones. That makes a much wider target for hackers, cybersecurity experts say.

CNet News

Pop on over to CNet News and read more about how to protect yourself and your online environment from hackers. Don’t put off updating important software and operating systems because you are too busy. Protect yourself in the digital world as well as physically.

How to Live Steam Your Business

March 24, 2020 by Henry Griner Leave a Comment

Today there are many exciting tools that make it easy to live stream not only events but business meetings with teams and individuals. Live Streaming includes both audio such as live phone teleconferences or Podcasts and live video.

This past Sunday, March 22nd, our church used YouTube to run a pre-recorded version of our Sunday church service. Our tech team used the ‘Schedule video publish time’ feature so the video was launched at 9:30am.

To schedule a video to go public, upload it as “Private” and use the “Schedule as public” option. Then, you can set the date, time, and time zone that you want your video to be published. The video will stay private until the scheduled time. Read More Here @Google

Thanks to Dan Peters of DanPetersDesign.com for his production work & Jesse V.

You can also use a video software program like ManyCam to live stream to multiple outlets at one time. I’ve used this to live stream to both YouTube and Facebook live while Podcasting live. This software gives you tools to operate like a small scale TV studio. You can have multiple presets with still images, recorded videos, input live Skype videos and setup lower-thirds with names of your presenters and website URLS.

All of this can be embedded on a WordPress website page with simple tools that can be added to your WordPress website. That is another reason why I love WordPress. Click on the image below to visit my Sample Live Stream Page that has one of the NASA live streams running.

Need help to move forward with your own audio or video production? It’s easier and less costly than you might think. Contact Me for a Free review to get started.

Now Open for Business – Online

March 20, 2020 by Henry Griner Leave a Comment

With the First Day of Spring 2020 on March 19th, Mission Springs Marketing is now again Open For Business.

I’m “On the Road Again” the virtual, online road that is. I kicked off my low key grand opening with a Live Podcast using Podbean.com plus, live-streaming to Facebook and my YouTube channel at the same time. It was a jugging act to say the least. 🙂

This is an amazing time that the United States and the world is moving into with so many changes because of #COVID-19 and all the fear and disruption it is causing for families and businesses.

I am excited and hopeful that I can help ministries, churches, non-profit organizations and business owners to make the changes needed in their organizations to use Digital Marketing resources to stay in contact with their employees and members during this time of transition.

Watch the recording of this video I did yesterday to see how I pulled together Podcasting and live-streaming. It is longer than the Podcast so you will see me working the “switches” and pulling the “levers” to make it come together. A real behind the scenes look at what it takes. Check out my services page for more information.

You can listen to the Podcast for my 70+ and Podcasting show, Episode #7 from the player below.
